viroze-copiiYou may be familiar with watery eyes, running nose, sneezing fits and weakness – especially these days, as winter approaches. Allergy attacks can drain the life out of you. But you can implement certain precautionary measures to help you avoid the whirlpool of allergy attacks. Here is a list of ideas that can dispel allergy attacks

Stay indoors in the morning

People are usually prone to allergy attacks when there are strong winds and low humidity. This helps to spread pollen at a faster pace. Hence it is recommended to stay indoor between 5 – 10am. Or have a dose of allergy medication.

Take a shower

Dust and pollen are not easily invisible to the naked eye. But they stick to your clothes and cause sneeze attacks and a constantly running nose. When you’re indoors, air conditioning is the solution as the AC can filter pollen and dust, provided you maintain the AC’s filter.

Roll up the window

This will help you reduce the exposure to pollen and climate change. When you drive with your window rolled down, you are inhaling far more pollen than you would otherwise.

Washing hands and clothes

Washing your hands and keeping them away from your face can lower the chances of inhaling germs, dust and spores. Washing clothes as soon as possible helps to reduce your chances of an allergy attack.

Avoid alcohol

A running nose that results from an allergy attack becomes even more convenient when there is mucus or further dryness in the nasal cavity. As you constantly wipe your nose, the area around the nostrils becomes dry and pathy. This means you’ll experience painful skin peeling. Hence, avoid consuming alcohol to reduce mucus production. Give your nose some relief.

Wear a mask

Covering your nose is a good way to filter pollen if you’re gardening or rummaging through old stuff. You can also have a handkerchief on your nose and mouth.

Interestingly, in Japan, the advent of respiratory masks began to avoid spreading the germ from the individual to his/her enivronment.

Avoid pollutants

Covering your nose also protects your respiratory tract. Besides avoiding pollen, it is advisable to protect yourself from pollution, dust and smoke too; as these pollutants are modern day living’s causes of most allergy attacks. They have an adverse effect on your respiratory tract.

Cure for allergy attacks

Before the attacks are full fledged, have a dose of an antihistamine. In case the symptoms are severe, the doctor will administer the necessary injection to subdue the swelling. Nasal drops can clear out the pollens and pollutants that you inhale.
