After the attacks on publishers of slain-writer blogger Avijit Roy, BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia says the government has ‘completely failed’ to provide security to the people.
The BNP chairperson, now in London for treatment, issued a statement demanding immediate arrest of the attackers.
Publisher Faisal Arefin Dipan’s body was found at his ‘Jagriti Prokashony’ office in Shahbagh on Saturday hours after the attack on publishing house ‘Shuddhaswar’ in Lalmatia.
Publisher Ahmedur Rashid Tutul, blogger Tarek Rahim and writer Ranadipam Basu were injured in Lalmatia attack.
Khaleda in her statement claimed Dipan was a vice-president of Zia Memorial Library, named after party founder Ziaur Rahman, and a follower of Zia’s ideal.
“The government has completely failed to safeguard people’s lives and properties. The entire nation has got into a suffocating situation due to the absence of the rule of law,” the BNP chief said.
